Global Business in Greater Phoenix

The Greater Phoenix Economic Council is dedicated to bringing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to the region. GPEC's efforts in this area include:

  • Collaborating with the Arizona Global Network, Phoenix Global Trade Initiatives and community and state representatives.
  • Launching targeted international sales missions, most recently to Austria, Germany and Spain.
  • Joining international trade groups, like the German Solar Industry Association, to give GPEC an edge with overseas companies.
  • Researching the most effective international sales tactics with the members of our International Leadership Council.

So far, GPEC's efforts have been remarkably successful. U.S. subsidiaries in Arizona now employ 71,000 Arizonans, an increase of 24.7 percent over five years. Plus, many prominent foreign companies have chosen to make the move to Greater Phoenix.

Recent GPEC-assisted international locates:

  • Ubidyne GmbH, a Munich, Germany-based firm developing digital radio technology for wireless networks.
  • Embraer, a Brazil-based jet maker, is opening one of three locations in the U.S. dedicated to full-service care for the company's jets.
  • txtNation, a British company offering mobile-phone messaging services, such as text-messaging and ringtones.
  • Locallife, the UK's largest local search directory and internet advertising firm, established its U.S. headquarters at ASU-SkySong Innovation Center.
  • Techba, headquartered in Mexico City, brings representatives of knowledge-based Mexican businesses and provides them with support for accelerating their businesses in the U.S. or international markets.
